us at the farm

We are immensely grateful to our partner estates for being able to help us offer really good coffee. Right at our year 1, we have had a clear vision of trying to keep a diverse roster of coffee year out with a healthy mix of Washed, Naturals and Honey Sun Dried alongside experimental processes.

something new
everytime

While there is an immense amount of love for the Washed and Naturals, our partner estates are able to surprise us with limited editions of experimental processes as well. The experimental processes are an attempt by the estates to push beyond the good coffee using science to achieve unusual results which taste fantastic in the cup and we as roasters love to profile them for you.

Our Current Estate Partners:

Baarbara Estate:

This estate is situated at a height of 5,350 feet and boasts soil that is enriched with nutrients and minerals. Additionally, it benefits from the presence of a variety of animals and birds that further enhance its biodiversity.

MG Plantations, which has been family-owned and operated for more than 120 years, produces exceptional Indian coffee by carefully handpicking beans grown on the verdant Chandra Dhrona hills of Chikmagalur, Karnataka. The beans harvested from this estate are larger and more dense, resulting in a rich and complex flavor profile that is truly delightful.

Moganad Estate:

Moganad Estate is situated in a valley located in the northernmost region of the Shevaroys, with growing areas spanning from 3600 to 4600 feet above the mean sea level.

This estate is distinguished by its intercropping of piper nigrum, syzygium aromaticum, and myristica fragrans, which amplifies the distinctiveness of their coffee. The coffee grown at Moganad Estate mainly consists of a blend of Arabica varieties, namely S.9, S 5B, and Chandragiri coffee. Additionally, the CxR Robusta variant thrives remarkably well in this estate, as evidenced by Moganad Estate's recent accomplishment of attaining the prestigious award for "Best Robusta Coffee in India” in the year 2016. Moganad Estate also received prominent recognition in the Global Coffee Report Magazine in their September, 2016 issue.

Karadykan Estate:

Karadykan Estate or "Trishul" estate, named after the three hills enclosing it, is owned and managed by "Sanghameshwar Coffee Estates group".

The property features a large stream flowing through the land, sourced from natural springs, while an array of wildlife, including bison and spotted deer, roam freely throughout the Karadykan Estate. The estate's natural beauty is further accentuated by the sight of peacocks flaunting their attractive plumage through captivating dance performances.

One of the estate's noteworthy attractions is a 100-year-old, 12-foot water wheel, which operates by gravity and generates hydroelectric power for coffee pulping. It is, without a doubt, a must-see destination at Coffee Works.

Gungegiri Estate:

In 1890, coffee cultivation was introduced to Gungegiri by the British siblings, WL Crawford and CS Crawford.

The estate's abundant water supply, sourced from the hills and flowing through several streams across the farm, earned it the name 'Ganga'. This fertile terrain is home to a plethora of wildlife, including a vast number of peacocks. Coffee is grown under the canopy of indigenous tree species such as Atti (Fig), Basri, and Neeroli, which provide filtered shade.

The Gungegiri hill serves as a guiding beacon for forest trekkers, akin to the northern star. It is currently managed by the Sanghameshwar Coffee Estate group led by S. Appadurai and Hamsini Appadurai.

Thogarihunkal Estate:

The Thogarihunkal Estate Group's love for coffee began in 1857 when T B Malle Gowda discovered that the Western Ghat region of Karnataka, specifically Chikmagalur, was perfect for growing the finest Arabica beans. Today, 150 years later, coffee is a part of their bloodline, and they nurture a mixed cropping system that cultivates coffee harmoniously with other plants and trees. Their plantations are home to a range of diverse fauna, making it a wildlife sanctuary.

Thogarihunkal Group's coffee is infused with the rich flavour of ecological diversity, which has won them the 'Flavour of India Fine Cup' award in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. The team consists of a blend of fresh and experienced individuals, all committed to quality and consistency, and actively pursuing excellence in coffee quality.

Ratnagiri Estate:

Ratnagiri Estate is a stunningly green region nestled within the breathtaking Western Ghats of South India, near Bababudangiri where coffee first originated in India. Covering a vast area of 117 hectares, Ratnagiri proudly produces high-quality specialty coffee, expertly grown alongside fine pepper.

The name Ratnagiri means Pearl Mountains, and the towering silver oaks that shade the flavorful coffee plants give a silver tint to the hills, perfectly embodying the name. The Patre family has devoted generations since 1927 to caring for this land, which has reciprocated their dedication with bountiful yields of coffee, pepper, and the beauty of nature.
